Valuation Coverage

One of the first questions everyone asks before they begin a move is “what do I do if something gets damaged?” While we at ABACUS do everything we can to ensure that all your possessions arrive at your new home in the same condition they left, sometimes accidents do happen.

The industry standard coverage for any damage caused by neglect of the carrier is $.60 per pound. This means that if an item, such as a television set which weighs 100 pounds, is dropped and destroyed, the amount that you could look to receive in compensation would be $60.00.

With the additional purchase of Full Valuation Coverage, you would receive the total amount required to replace the item. The costs for this coverage are based on the value placed on the shipment. This value can be calculated by us at a rate of $5.00 per pound of estimated weight or you as the customer can declare a value for the shipment.
